Troy University graduate Kathy Nishnic has been a registered representative with Mantei and Associates of Lexington, South Carolina, since 1997. Dedicated to assisting her clients in achieving their long-term financial goals, she is a professional in estate planning and helps her clients determine their best options for both income and retirement investments. Kathy Nishnic also is a dedicated fan of the theater, and one of her favorite productions is Wicked, a perennially popular show about the unlikely friendship between Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, and Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West.
Wicked originally opened 17 years ago at Broadway’s Gershwin Theater, dramatizing the relationship between Glinda and Elphaba that began long before the arrival of Dorothy in the land of Oz. Leading the cast was Idina Menzel as Elphaba, and Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda, both of whom have had acclaimed careers following their roles in Wicked.
Menzel suffered a cracked rib in her final performance of Wicked as she fell through a trap door onstage in 2005. While an understudy stepped in following the accident, Menzel was able to complete the final scene and receive accolades with the rest of the cast. Subsequently, Menzel appeared in such big screen productions as Rent and Enchanted, and will appear again in November in Disney’s Frozen 2.
Chenoweth continued on Broadway after her stint with Wicked, appearing in The Apple Tree in 2006, Promises, Promises in 2010, and Kristin Chenoweth: My Love Letters to Broadway in 2016. She also created a week-long summer camp in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, which offers instruction from industry professionals to aspiring actors.
